SMU Archery
ABOUT US
Archery is one of the oldest sports still practised today, requiring physical and mental strength to execute each shot perfectly. We are a close-knit team that is always willing to welcome new members, regardless of age or experience. Come give Archery a shot today!
We hold trainings twice a week at The Archery Academy (TAA) and Telok Blangah Archery Club (TBAC). We compete both indoors and outdoors, so this gives our archers the ability to train for all competitions, with distances ranging from 18m all the way to 70m.
KEY EVENTS
Arrow Dynamics
Our annual event Arrow Dynamics offers all SMU students a rare opportunity to try outdoors archery at Telok Blangah Archery Club and learn the basics of shooting with a bow.

"Archery has been a way for me to relax and take a break from studying. It’s more challenging than it may seem, but that’s part of what makes it fun and exciting for me! It also feels really good when you hit the bullseye!"
Yong Weng Kiat, Year 4, Ex Captain (2019)
FAQ
No you do not! In fact, almost all of our members were new to the sport when they joined! Experienced archers are definitely welcome though!
As our club is a competitive club, all members will be expected to participate in the two annual competitions.
While the club does have basic equipment which can be loaned out in the beginning, in order to progress further in the sport, we would recommend that all members purchase their own equipment. Carousell is a good place to find second-hand equipment.
While archery may sound potentially dangerous, it’s in fact one of the safest sports you can join!
According to the National Safety Council in the U.S, 90% of archery-related injuries occur from bowhunting and not target shooting (target shooting being what we do at SMU Archery).
While we currently do not have compound archers, we would definitely welcome any compound archers who are interested in joining our club!
