ABOUT US

The SMU Career Champions (CC) are student career advisors who work hand-in-hand with SMU Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC). CC serves the SMU student body by being the bridge between students and the corporate world.

We do so by having weekly consultations where students can come to us for advice on how to improve their resume or have a mock interview. In addition, we also have networking events where students will learn how to network and gain connections.

You can expect CC to help you in terms of discovering your career interests, letting you interact with professionals of your dream industry of choice and helping to improve your application to increase your chances of getting that dream internship or job.

For a summary of what we do, check this visual information deck.

KEY EVENTS

  1. Constellations: 13th September 2023
Participants can hear from current SMU students speak about their internship experiences and gain industry knowledge and tips on how to get into their dream companies. If you are interested in this event, join our Telegram channel to find out when sign-ups are open!

  2. Professional Networking Night (PNN): 8th February 2024

OUR PEOPLE IN ACTION

HOW TO JOIN THE CLUB?

SMU students can check your inbox for our recruitment email or drop by our booth during Vivace to find out more! You can also follow our Instagram to stay updated, or email careerchampions@sa.smu.edu.sg if you have any queries.

"Nothing pleases me more than the smiles on students' faces after each consultation and event organised by us. I am extremely thankful to be part of the team that took the leap of faith to restructure and rebrand ourselves, to provide the best career guidance for the student community."

- Morris Lee, Strategy & Operations Director, 7th Executive Committee, School of Business, Year 4

"I had the opportunity to work with a diverse team and interact with students from varied backgrounds. Through this journey, I discovered more about my own strengths, weaknesses and how to leverage or improve on them. Indeed, an eye-opening experience which a 'classroom-setting' may not have provided."

- A S Vishwapriya (Priya), Marketing Director, 7th Executive Committee, School of Business, Year 4

FAQ

Our student advisors give 1-to-1 consultations every Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30pm-5:30pm to provide students personalised feedback on their resumes. We also organise networking events to provide you with the opportunity to network with professionals from top-tier companies.

You can go to OnTRAC > Undergraduate Career Services > Counselling & Calendar > Counselling Appt > Request New Appointment. These steps will also allow you to book an appointment with your designated Career Coach! We also accept walk-ins during our consultation timings at SMU Admin Building Level 7.

Our members are trained by SMU Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre to review students’ resumes and conduct mock interviews. We find that once you’re equipped with these skills, you gain the ability to critique and perfect your own resume and interview performance as well. CC also provides members with various opportunities to gain valuable experience in event planning, project coordination as well as leadership opportunities to hone their skills.

Yes, you can! We hold our recruitment annually, and we are looking for students with internship experience who wish to give back to the SMU community. Even if you are a Year 1 student without internship experience, you can still apply if you want to be part of what CC does: being the bridge between the SMU student body and the corporate world.

You will need to attend our bi-weekly meetings on Fridays and be part of the Organising Committee for at least one of our flagship events. You are also expected to help with your departmental activities/events and meet your department KPIs.
