SMU Aquatic Sharks
SMU Aquatic Sharks is an aquatic sports club that houses both swimming and water polo.
We aim to create a holistic environment that caters to students of all skill levels, with the goal of motivating members to be stronger athletes whilst enjoying themselves. Members are given the opportunity to represent SMU at tertiary competitions such as the Singapore University Games (SUniG), and Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Games. Swim trainings are held twice a week, while Polo trainings take place once a week. The trainings, post-training team dinners, and competitions aim to foster greater camaraderie amongst members while providing memorable experiences.
- Swim Sharkie Swim
Swim Sharkie Swim (SSS) is our annual flagship charity event that combines both our passion for aquatic sports and our desire to give back to the community. SSS aims to bring people together to swim for a charitable cause as proceeds from the event are donated to charitable beneficiaries.
Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Games is a tertiary-level competition where athletes from local Polytechnics, ITE and Universities compete with one another. SMU Aquatic Sharks participates in the IVP Swimming Games yearly, with our members clinching titles for individual and relay events over the past years.
- Singapore University Games
Singapore University Games (SUniG) is an inter-university competition organised by the Singapore University Sports Council (SUSC) annually. SMU Aquatic Sharks participates in SUniG yearly, winning various medals for individual and relay events over the past years.
- NUS Water Polo Challenge
NUS Water Polo Challenge is an annual Water Polo invitational competition, organised by NUS, where our SMU Water Polo team pits against other local tertiary institutions in a round-robin format.

Yes! Swim training will cater to both competitive and recreational swimmers. From those wanting to improve their swimming to those training to compete, this CCA is the place for you.
It is definitely not a requirement to be able to swim all strokes. Training can be adjusted based on experience and you will be given coaching to learn the stroke if you are interested.
Yes, trainings are held together but the training programs are tweaked by our coach and captains based on the ability of the swimmers. Swimmers are also split into different groups and allocated a lane with those of similar level.
Trainings are held at Toa Payoh Swimming Complex together with Pacer Water Polo Academy
No, prior experience is not required. If you are a competent swimmer, we welcome you to come down for one of our training sessions to experience the sport.
