ABOUT US
Established in 2005, SMU Basketball is a competitive sporting club that values team unity and professionalism on and off the court.
SMU Basketball has shared a strong history with SMU Sports Union and also integrated well with our school community. Through dedication and perseverance, we aspire to maintain our position as a prominent and bonded club in the school’s sporting fraternity and achieve significant placing in competitive basketball. We have weekly trainings and organise regular club events to foster a team spirit and create lasting friendships.

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
1) Men's Team: 2022 SUNIG Achieved a Top 4 placing.
2) Women’s Team: Achieved a Top 4 placing, and eligible for 2020 Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Games

HOW TO JOIN THE CLUB?
For our competitive team, we hold trials during our training sessions and we welcome anyone interested to try out! :)
As for our recreational team, sign up links will be sent via email and opened during VIVACE so do keep a look out as we have limited slots available!

FAQ
The men’s team is coached by Mr Lee Boon Hian, who is currently coaching teams at the secondary level as well as at the division level. He is currently one of the coaches of Siglap Basketball Club, where they have come in 1st position in the 2019 ICBC National Basketball League Division. As for the women’s team, they are coached by Lim Jia Min and Alanna Lim. They are both representing Singapore and playing in the national team for basketball. With their young age they are able to relate and bond more with the team. We have very close ties with both our coaches. ☺
Throughout the year, we will be organising various events such as Corporate Networking sessions as well as Alumni Engagement sessions. These sessions allow us to interact with the working population over a game of basketball, and at the same time learn more about their respective careers.
As for events within the school, SMU Basketball Club is committed to supporting SMU Sports Union events such as Sports Camp and our annual beach day event Waikiki.
Finally, we will also organise our annual basketball competition; SMU 3X3 Basketball Competition. It is SMU Basketball Club’s hallmark event where we bring together basketball players from all over Singapore to engage in friendly competition right in the heart of campus.
Upon sign up, our respective team captains will arrange a selection trial at the next suitable training date where our coaches will then make the final decision.
