SMU Students’ Association (SMUSA)
Singapore Management University Students' Association (SMUSA) is a student-run organisation founded in 2000, the highest office of student leadership in SMU. As a student government body, we act as the bridge between students and the School Offices by representing the voices of all SMU undergraduates.
SMUSA is made of both the Council and the Executive Committee (ExCo). The SMUSA Council is the policy-making arm of the association that focuses on implementing consistent processes across the various Constituent Bodies and also in providing strategic direction for its executive arm. The SMUSA ExCo, on the other hand, promotes a vibrant student life in SMU by organising events and providing student-centered services all year round.
You can expect to learn technical skills, ranging from policy-making to business development, event planning, marketing, operation management and more!
You can also further develop soft skills such as decision-making, stakeholder management, critical-thinking and communication skills.
We also believe in forging strong professional bonds and lasting friendships in SMUSA.

"SMUSA has definitely been an eye-opening experience for me as I got myself involved in the planning phase with my peers. It is always amazing to see what you plan actualise into events for the student bodies. I definitely encourage those who have a heart to make SMU a better place for all to join us"
- Liow De Jun, Deputy Academics and Welfare, Year 2
“SMUSA has helped me become more confident in my decisions. Learning and development is a continuous process by working with talented people from diverse backgrounds. This is a platform where I can openly express my ideas and views without being judged.”
- Nilanjana Jain, Deputy Operations, Year 2
“SMUSA has taught me critical leadership and decision-making skills that have proved to useful both in my life and valued in the workplace. Being in the highest student leadership organisation, I’m able to meet like-minded individuals who are top of their game to serve our students.”
Leong Ze Hao
LKCSB: Year 3
“SMUSA has presented me numerous opportunities to develop myself as a student leader. Through the various initiatives spearheaded together with my department, I have enriched the lives of the students in SMU. These rich experiences are certainly eye-opening and have honed me to serve with a heart for the community.”
LKCSB and SOA: Year 2
"SMU gave me an opportunity when no other university did, so I would very much like to give back by serving the SMU student community. As the governing body of the SMU student community and the only CCA with the resources and mandate to organise university-wide events and initiatives, I believe that SMUSA would allow me to do just that and much more. On a personal level, I would also like to challenge myself and have a diverse and meaningful experience in SMU. I know it won't be easy, but as the President of SMUSA said in his welcome address during FOMO, "we wouldn't know if we didn't try"."
Ong Ing Khim, Russell
SOL: Year 1
"I like to do events planning and be the voice of other students. My previous CCA is also similar to this CCA and with a bigger scale, I wish to challenge myself and learn new things."

SIS: Year 1
