About Us
The SMU Students’ Association (SMUSA) represents and serves the voices of the student body while working to enhance student life across the SMU community. As the main student representative body in SMU, SMUSA works closely with students, CCAs, school offices, and external stakeholders to drive initiatives that create meaningful impact on campus.
SMUSA supports and organises a wide range of welfare initiatives, student engagement efforts, advocacy projects, and large-scale school events throughout the academic year. Through these initiatives, members gain opportunities to contribute directly to the student experience while developing valuable skills in leadership, communications, stakeholder management, event planning, operations, and teamwork.
Beyond organising projects and events, SMUSA also serves as a platform for students to voice feedback, champion new ideas, and foster stronger connections within the SMU community. Members work alongside passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds and collaborate across different CCAs, schools, and departments within the university.

Key Events
SMUSA Annual General Meeting (AGM)
SMUSA hosts our AGM at the start of the year to celebrate our achievements, introduce the incoming SMUSA ExCo, and share our plans for the new year.
SMU Freshmen Orientation (FO)
SMUSA, along with the FO Organising Committee, plans and organises the largest freshmen orientation yearly that spans across all schools in SMU, including the one you just attended!
SMU Vivace
SMUSA, along with the Vivace Organising Committee, plans and organises the annual CCA fair in SMU, providing SMUSA members with the opportunity to discover the multitude of CCAs SMU has to offer.
SMUSAfiesta
SMUSAfiesta (previously known as Bi-Annual) is one of SMUSA's signature events that takes place once a year. It aims to provide all SMUSA members with the opportunity to have a well-deserved bonding time with your friends through food and games before diving into studying for finals.
SMUSA Welfare Drives
SMUSA Welfare Drives are held once per semester, which aims to cheer all SMUSA members on, boosting your morale, motivating and supporting you to push through the exam and project weeks.

How To Join
If you wish to join the SMUSA ExCo, you will be required to go through SMUSA’s General Elections, the Students' Association Council Leadership Induction Program (SACLIP), and Internal Elections. Keep a lookout for our email on election nominations opening in Term 1.
You may also join as a SMUSA Deputy by participating in the recruitment program, which will take place at the end of the year. Selected individuals will go through an interview process. Successful applicants will join us onboard to give back to the SMU community, together with the SMUSA ExCo.

SMUSA upholds and protects students’ rights, where our aim is to champion the needs and interests of the student body. Our key functions are to serve as a voice for our student body and govern the CBds as well as the clubs and societies in SMU.

SMUSA recruits Organising Committees for our summer events (i.e. FO and Vivace) during mid-January. Do look out for sign-up opportunities via our email and Instagram!
SMUSA does more than plan for events! Besides front-facing events, we have a multitude of supporting arms, such as managing SMUSA’s finances and budgeting in our Finance department, or SMUSA’s assets and the loaning system in our Operations department. The SMUSA ExCo and Deputies will commence their term of office from January to December 31st. It will be a year-long commitment.
