SMU Athletics Mile Run
The SMU Athletics Mile Run is an annual marquee event organised by us for the student body and running community. In last year’s iteration, it was a 1.609km competitive race around Campus Green held on the 6th of October 2023. In SMU Athletics Mile Run, runners will race for the title of being the “City’s Quickest Miler”, with prizes to be won for the top 3 male and female contestants by time! The purpose of this event is to foster a strong fitness culture within SMU, promote the sport of Athletics and increase publicity for the club. -
Open City Runs
Open City Runs are a monthly Athletics event designed for the vibrant student running community. We open these inclusive and invigorating runs to all students regardless of club membership to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle while creating bonds and fostering a sense of community and camaraderie for the student running body. -
Community Service Project (CSP)
SMU Athletics partners with Big Hearts Student Care Centre for “Project Big Hearts” in which we focus on providing a variety of recreational activities to give a space for children to resolve stress from schooling or other parts of their backgrounds. -
Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games (IVP) and Singapore University Games (SUniG)
The Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games and Singapore University Games are a series of sports and games that students of local tertiary institutions compete in annually. It serves as a platform to foster goodwill and friendships through active participation in sports and to improve the standards of sports among the participating tertiary institutions. Every year, our athletes proudly represent Singapore Management University in competition with other tertiary institutions. -
Competitions and Marathons
Additionally, our athletes take part in various competitions hosted by the Singapore Athletics Association (SAA) ranging from Pesta Sukan, SA All Comers Meets and Club Zoom and we boast a vibrant running community where members participate together in marathons such as the Sundown Marathon, Standard Chartered Marathon and 2XU Marathon. FAQ
There will be free training sessions open to all (no prior experience required) after the conclusion of Vivace! We welcome everyone at all levels of fitness in both teams and implore you to join us on this journey. Join us for a session and see how it goes!
In the competitive team, you will be coached to ensure that we are able to bring out the best in you.
The recreational team holds weekly city runs that cater towards different levels of fitness.
Due to the nature of the competitive team, we require a higher level of commitment to participate in competitions and represent our university. Therefore, there is an 85% attendance requirement for the competitive team. Do talk to our captains to find out more!
On the other hand, the recreational team attendance policy would be attending 5 runs a semester. However, we encourage joining as often as possible!
You can drop us a DM on our Instagram page or email us if you have any enquiries and we’ll be sure to get back to you.
Nope! Both teams (competitive & recreational) only have 2 training sessions per week. Each training session will last up to 2 hours.
Aside from our trainings, we also hold a variety of events from the ones mentioned above to various bonding sessions such as Athletics Orientation, Chinese New Year Celebrations and End of Year Chalet! Look out for our messages in our Athletics telegram channels to join us!
