SMUREAL (Real Estate & Alternative Investments)
ABOUT US
SMUREAL is a finance club that focuses on Real Estate & Alternative Investments. We aim to develop a community of like-minded individuals with a firm foundation in finance, synergised through the unique perspective of real assets.
Our club organises weekly analyst sessions on Real Estate Finance and Investments. Analysts can expect to engage with different sectors such as Commercial, Industrial, Hospitality and Data Centres amongst other sectors.
Analysts can also expect to learn various valuation methodologies and analytical skills which are exclusive to real estate investments. This will be executed under the guidance of seniors, SMUREAL alumni as well as working professionals in the real estate industry.

- Local Real Estate Study Trip
Places of visit include:
- URA Singapore City Gallery
- Mapletree Business City (including Fireside Chat with Mapletree Group Chief Executive Officer)
- Hewlett Packard Building at Depot Close
- VivoCity SC
- Overseas Real Estate Trips:
These trips offer students the opportunity to visit real estate companies and financial institutions overseas (such as CapitaLand, Keppel, HSBC, etc.) and attend sharing sessions by these companies.

- Korea (2019 & 2023)
- Australia (2023)
- Japan (2024)
- Alumni Networking Sessions:
Members will have the chance to attend networking events and mingle with alumni working in the real estate industry, and understand deeper about the different functions within this industry.
- Real Estate Industry Talks + Case Competitions:
SMUREAL members will be invited to participate in case competitions and real estate seminars organised by the club itself and LKCSB, e.g. Mapletree Leadership Series, Mapletree Real Estate Forums and other ad-hoc real estate seminars

HOW TO JOIN THE CLUB?
An interview will be required as we will need to assess the candidate’s resourcefulness and initiative in order to determine their commitment level and interest to ensure that they really want to be involved in the programme. Guidelines will be provided to get them started.

FAQ
Training sessions will be conducted by our training team, consisting of Year 2 and 3 (senior and EXCO) members.
Professor Song Changcheng, teaching Real Estate Finance & Investments module at SMU.
Year 1 members can expect to learn basic finance, how to analyse businesses and financial modelling, before moving on to real estate and alternative investments.
Passion and interest in real estate. You need not have a background in finance or real estate.
We are a vibrant club with members who are passionate about real estate!
