ABOUT US
Special Interest and Community Service Sodality (SICS) is the Student Constituent Body (CBd) that represents the diverse interest groups and long-term community service groups in SMU. We have 22 clubs in total to enrich your student life. SICS has 5 clusters:
1. Lifestyle Cluster (SMU Recreational Fishing, SMU Wine Appreciation Club, SMU Gourmet Club, SMU Barworks, SMU Fitnessworks) provides members indulgence in lifestyle options and unique interests.
2. Personal Development Cluster (SMU Toastmasters, SMU Debating Society, SMU Thrive Social Consulting, SMU AIESEC, SMU Start Up Society) provides opportunities to enhance soft skills.
3. Social Gaming Cluster (SMU Strategica, SMU Intellectual Sports, SMU eSports) aims to improve skills of any gaming enthusiast.
4. Community Service Cluster (SMU Youth Mentors, SMU Caretalyst, SMU Ember, SMU Red Cross, SMU Rotaract, SMU Uni-Y) hopes to ignite members' passion to serve the community from mentoring youths to connecting with seniors.
5. Social Causes Cluster (SMU Verts, SMU Women’s Connection, SMU People for Animal Welfare) supports members in championing causes.
KEY EVENTS
- SICS Day
Held in the first quarter of each year, SICS Day aims to showcase and spread awareness of the clubs under SICS to SMU students through various fun activities and rewards. SICS Day invites students to discover new passions, meet like-minded peers, and gain interest in the clubs. - SICS Freshmen Summer Programme
As part of the SMU Freshmen Experience, the SICS Freshmen Summer Programme seeks to welcome all freshmen by immersing them in a wide array of activities. With fun-filled games and immersive activities showcasing all our vibrant clubs, you can look forward to forging new friendships and getting a taste of SICS! - Purple Outreach
A signature event during summer under SICS where we partner with Mountbatten Vocational School (MVS) to help youths with special needs realise their value and importance in our society through a series of weekly outreach events, in hopes of creating a more inclusive society. - SMOO Challenge
SMOO Challenge is SMU's flagship university-wide fundraising initiative dedicated to uplifting underprivileged students through bursary support. First launched in 2020 to mark SMU's 20th Anniversary, SMOO Challenge has become the university's unifying movement that rallies students, staff, alumni and partners in the shared spirit of giving and community. Every alternate year, SMOO Challenge rotates with SMOO Challenge Lite, spearheaded by SICS. This year, in celebration of SMU's 25th Anniversary, SMOO Challenge returns with its largest and most exciting edition yet, featuring a highly anticipated physical Flag Off and Amazing Race, where we come together to start with a step and end with an impact. - SICS Welfare Drive
SICS aims to encourage our members for their upcoming finals and energise them with our welfare goodies in our welfare drives! Beyond encouragement, we also wish to acknowledge the efforts and participation of all our SICS members in our clubs throughout the semester.

Purple Outreach
A signature event in the months of May & June under SICS in collaboration with Centre for Adults of APSN to help youth with disabilities realise their value and importance in our society through a series of weekly sessions to create a more inclusive society.
SMOOCH
SMOOCH alternates annually between SMOO Challenge and SMOO Challenge Lite. SMOO Challenge is SMU’s signature fundraising movement dedicated to uplifting underprivileged students through the SMU Bursary Fund. SMOO Challenge Lite is a one-day event aimed at improving students’ mental wellbeing while fostering community spirit within the SMU community.
