About Us
Founded in 2002, SMUSAIC is SMU’s flagship photography club dedicated to promoting photographic literacy, passion, and appreciation for the arts. We are a tight-knit community seeking to hone our crafts through the sharing and learning of insights from one another.
You will be assured of an enriching experience through workshops, photo walks and annual exhibitions. These activities stretch over a range of photography styles, from studio and street to film and portraiture.
You do not have to possess any camera gears.
We will equip you with the knowledge.

How To Join
Students are welcome to join, regardless of your photography experience! No auditions or interviews are required. Just keep in mind that we open membership only twice each academic year, so stay tuned for our updates and be ready to join us when recruitment periods open!

Join SMUSAIC for a one-time fee of $16, valid until graduation. Enjoy priority access to all events, workshops, and exclusive photography resources throughout your university experience!
We focus on a wide range of photography across various genres, including film, digital and portraiture. If you're interested in exploring other photography genres, just let us know!
Our regular training sessions are conducted by professional photographers from reputable external vendors, including Nikon. These seasoned professionals share their extensive knowledge and experience by guiding members through various shooting processes and offering feedback.
There are many freelance photographers in our club which can be a good platform to expand your networks in the local arts scene. You’ll also gain exposure by covering major SMU events and participating in photo exhibitions, which not only enhances your visibility but also helps refine and diversify your portfolio.
